Katerina Graham, well known as Kat and also known for playing the role Bonnie Bennett on Vampire Diaries, is an American actress as well as a model, a dancer and now a singer. Kat Graham has appeared on various shows since a young age and danced on BET as a backup dancer at the age of 15. Now that she is a bit more popular, her music has become a main focus. In 2002, Kat released her debut single, Sassy, but it did not reach charts, partly because she wasn’t very popular back then and partly because it wasn’t good. When she didn’t find any real attention she kept acting and did covers to songs by artists such as Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul. Now she is signed to A&M Octone Records after getting great attention from her cover song played in an episode of Vampire Diaries.
Though Kat’s songs themselves don’t live up to the recent attention brought to her music videos. It might be a dream of hers, but her focus should be at what she’s best at. The few songs she has released show her sexy modeling and dancing side more than if she has any real talent at singing. Her fans may believe she’s good because they just want to stick by her, but the whole being an actor and now that they’re popular start singing is a bit overplayed. In these songs, Kat’s voice is obviously played with to be high pitched and robotic sounding. I could barely focus on her lyrics in Put Graffiti On It because how low her voice was. If I were to play any of her songs it’d be to dance to the beat of the music, not to sing along to her lyrics. I’d personally rather watch her on TV than MTV.
