Every year a festival called Lollapalooza is held at Grant Park in Chicago. It was originally created by Jane’s Addiction’s lead singer, Perry Ferrell, as a farewell tour for his band. Lollapalooza was a much different kind of festival compared to others such as Woodstock, or the US Festival because of the fact that it wasn’t just a onetime thing like all of the festivals held before; Lollapalooza toured all of the USA and Canada. Since then, it has become even greater than what it was meant to be. Lollapalooza has been the starting place for many artists and bands which have become bigger because of playing in it. 2014 will be the 23rd year Lollapalooza will be taking place, with headliners such as: Eminem, Outkast, Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, and Skrillix. The turnout for this event should be huge. Eminem, who just released his new studio album back in November, is touring with Rhianna on The Monster tour and should bring in a huge audience. The amount of people who usually show up to this event ranges from 500,000 to 700,000, and with tickets already being sold out it’s hard to imagine that the crowd will be small. With a festival this big taking place it usually takes a couple weeks to prepare for it. Be on your best behavior because with that many people coming from all over the world, the police force is always prepared for the worst. Lollapalooza 2014 comes to Chicago Aug. 1, 2 and 3. If you are not able to make it out you can always stream your favorite artist’s performance on YouTube.
