In late 2014 All That Remains stated that a new album was in the works and that compared to their last one A War You Cannot Win the new album will blow it away. Fans disliked the last album due to the lighter sound. On November 14th Phil Labonte revealed the first single which was entitled “No Knock”. This song has a sound that All That Remains fans will love. Less clear vocals and more screaming, the single overall gave listeners big hopes for the rest of the record. The second single that was released was called “This Probably Won’t End Well” which has more clean vocals, but the song overall has a catchy rhythm that fans will catch onto. Continuing the positive reactions was the third and final single released, “True Klvt-Metal”, which is calling out all the fans who dislike the new direction in which the band is going. On February 24th, 2015 The Order of Things was released and people jumped to buy the album. Listening to this album I personally loved it, songs like “Divide, The Greatest Generation” and “Victory Lap” gave people a reason to put this album on replay. Songs like “Pernicious,” Bite My Tongue,” and “A Reason for Me to Fight” give the heavier listeners something to also enjoy. After listening to this album many times I have realized how mature this band has gotten. From start to finish The Order of Things is undeniably All That Remains best piece yet. From the vocal improvements to the better production sound they really tried hard on this album, and the fans have shown their happiness in result. My personal favorite is “The Greatest Generation” just because it has such a heavy metal sound and the lyrics flow and sound good together. In the end, All That Remains has found a sound that makes them happy and hopefully makes the fans happy. I would give this album a ten out of ten, mostly because of the sound. It has catchier riffs, heavier songs and a very equal amount of clean and grunted vocals. Do yourself a favor and give The Order of Things a chance and check out All That Remains live at Mojoes on May 21st.
