On April 3rd, 2015, American pop punk band, All Time Low released its sixth album Future Hearts. This album includes guest appearances from Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden in the tracks “Tidal Waves” and “Bail Me Out.” When listening to this album for the first time, I found myself tapping and singing along. I really enjoyed the catchiness each song had to offer! The harmonies were another thing that caught my attention while listening to this album. The songs I liked the most would have been “Dancing with a Wolf” and “Satellite.” Anyways, sometimes changes are for the best and that’s what Alex Gaskarth, lead singer of ATL, did. Some songs appeared to be “heavier” than All Time Low’s type of style, not just by his vocals but by guitar riffs. But overall, the songs within this album seem upbeat and cheerful. I am not a usual or consider myself a big fan of All Time Low but I own “Nothing Personal”, they kept up with their image, but I feel like they have slowed their songs down in “Future Hearts”. Their songs would start with a slow intro, eventually transitioning into an upbeat chorus, unlike their songs in the past. I also felt like each song’s lyrics had meaning within itself. It offered encouragements such as “Hold on tight, this ride is a wild one” and “Don’t lose your fight, kid.” In my opinion, those lyrics reach out most to people who are more than just for a listen of this new album, encouragements like these help ATL’s fans go through the ups and downs in life. One might not notice it, but music goes a long way. If you have never heard of All Time Low, this would be an album definitely worth listening to!
