The horror/suspense flick, Unfriended, hits the movie theaters with a new twist on typical horror films. The movie revolves around Laura Barns, who commits suicide because of an anonymous video posted online. The spirit of the deceased Laura Barns plays a supernatural force in a Skype call full of friends. They soon come to realize that they are chatting on the anniversary of her death and this entity wants nothing but to find out who posted the anonymous video. The spirit of Laura plays mind games on the Skype chat and slowly unfolds each secret that the friends have to hide. The course of the movie recreates a new way of bullying and friendships online. The movie captures how connected we are with our technology and social media. We need to be aware that all of our memories stay online, even the bad ones, in a thriller that will make you never look at social media the same. “I couldn’t keep my eyes off the screen!” says the website Shock ‘Til You Drop. The movie shows how each friend dies a tragic death until someone comes forward and owns up to posting the anonymous video. During this movie, I could not stop watching because it had me visually trapped with all the screams and yelling. I really like this film because of the way the ghost of Laura plays tricks and slowly makes each friend discover something new about each other. Overall, I would give this movie a 4 out of 5 stars. I would recommend you go to your local movie theater and watch this because it is definitely a movie that is worth going to see, especially if you’re looking for a thriller that keeps you hanging from the edge of your seat.
