Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Arrive in Late 2016!

Giovanni Alvarado, Arts and Entertainment Editor/Reporter

After a painful and distasteful wait of a year and half, the new pair of 3DS main series title games were unveiled recently on February 26th in the Pokémon Direct. Announcing Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. The announcement wasn’t a total surprise however, since trademarks for the games leaked a day before, all but confirming their existence. Furthermore, the recent debut of the new Pokémon Magearna, hinted that a new title installment in the series was on the horizon. It’s about time they announce something since Pokémon X and Y came out in 2013, so it’s been a while since we’ve gotten a new game in the main series.

Nintendo also announced the Virtual Console versions of the original Pokémon games will now allow for Pokémon transfers. In other words, Pokémon caught or traded in Red, Yellow, and Blue versions on the 3DS Virtual Console will be transferable to new iterations of the games, including Sun and Moon, via the Pokebank.

Transfers from Gameboy to Gameboy Advance and higher were not previously available. While this means the Mewtwo of your childhood will remain forever encased in the plastic prison of your original Gameboy cart, you can now recapture and train one to bring into the modern era.

Pokémon Sun and Moon are scheduled to release “Holiday 2016” in nine different languages worldwide, but further details like new legendaries or mega evolution possibilities weren’t mentioned during the brief Direct. Either way, Pokémon fans are expected to have something really big and unexpected since being the 20th anniversary of Pokémon success.

What do you expect from your new journey in Pokémon Moon and Sun?
