Ghostbusters: Afterlife
December 20, 2021
This upcoming film really brings fans a sense of nostalgia. Director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman worked together to bring to the theaters the new 2021 Ghostbusters: Afterlife. In this movie, a single mother and her two kids Phoebe and Trevor arrive in a small town. It’s here where they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather, Egon Spengler left behind. The movie begins with a prologue: a car chase between one of the original ghostbusters and a ghost. He attempts to annihilate the ghost but unfortunately meets his end. We’re brought back to the present, where Phoebe, a bright young girl, lets curiosity get the best of her. She stumbles across the device her grandfather used to track spirits, which leads her to one of his ghost traps. With the help of her teacher and a new friend, they get it to open, finding out that the trap held the same spirit that killed Egon. By the time they realized what they had done, it was too late. The ghost is let loose and now brings chaos to the townspeople. The kids team up with friends to fix the grievous mistake they had just made. It is now up to them to not only save themselves, but to save their new town.
What fans found so fascinating about this movie is the fact that it brought back the original ghostbusters, each all played by their original actors as well. Not only that, but this movie was made in the loving memory of Harold Ramis, the man who played Egon Spengler in the original films. A touching way to introduce the new generation of ghostbusters!
