On October 27th, nine years after its original release in 2014, 1989 was rerecorded and released for the second time. It includes all of the famous tracks such as Blank Space and Shake it Off. Why does Taylor re-record her albums? Well, a talent manager named Scooter Braun stole six of her key albums, so now Taylor re-records and puts “Taylor’s Version” behind them to make them truly hers once again.
1989 is known to be one of her most iconic albums, with so many memorable songs on them. Although this album has had a lot of backlash for sounding “robotic”, it seems to have almost as much love. In any re-recorded album by Taylor, the vault tracks are the star of the show. In this album, she put out five new songs from that era of her life. These new tracks are titled; “Sl*t!”, Say Don’t Go, Now That We Don’t Talk, Suburban Legends, and Is It Over Now. While they have never been heard before they go along well with the vibe of the album. Taylor Swift writes a lot about all of the men in her life, heartbreaks, true love, and common disinterest.
My favorite vault track is Now That We Don’t Talk, which is rumored to be about Harry Style and their short-lived relationship. The whole album is one hour and twenty-one minutes and is worth the listen if you’re looking for some childhood nostalgia. This re-recording means a lot to Taylor as she wrote Via Instagram, “The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways.” she announced the album on August 10th, which is when fans went wild waiting for the release.
