Halloween season is finally back in Great America! It is one of the biggest festivals at  the amusement park! It is also one of the most known festivals as well! Fright Fest has been around for many years now, specifically since 1986.The dates for Fright Fest this year started from September 6 – October 29 and if lucky until November 3, 2024. 

They only have fright fest on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.Fright fest starts around 7-7:30 depending on the actors or other things that the park has scheduled. Fright Fest is where you meet with scary characters, there is also a lot of fog. Each area of the park has its specific haunted attractions. Some Fright Fest attractions require an extra fee beyond the entry price, like for the haunted house attractions. There are around 14 or less mazes in Fright Fest; it is usually depending on the park.       

Most people recommend going on Friday’s instead of Saturdays because of how crowded it gets on Saturdays. It can be very frightening at times. It’s not recommended for people younger than 13 to go on their own. When interviewing a former student at Joliet Central they talked about their experience at Fright Fest, “I was at first excited for frightfest but once the monsters came out I was terrified because of how good their acting was. My experience at frightfest was fantastic. I was so scared to the point I cried. I now look back at the moment as a funny moment”. said by Arely Carrasco. 

Scare actors aren’t allowed to touch anyone even if they are trying to get someone’s attention, it is against policy for the safety of the actors and audience alike. In conclusion, Fright Fest has returned to Great America! It is one of the largest and most renowned festivals in the region. It is highly advisable to visit at least once. In many others’ views, it will be quite thrilling to experience this if possible!
