On September 11, 2024 New jeans spoke about their opinions on their CEO Min Hee Jin Controversy. New Jeans did a live stream to talk about how this controversy is affecting their career.

New Jeans is a very famous group in Korea with a devoted fanbase. Recently Min Hee Jin has found  herself in a problematic situation involving the entertainment company HYBE. Min Hee Jin, has found herself with allegations of mistreatment towards New Jeans and assumptions to take over HYBE. In response HYBE filed a lawsuit against her, since then she has been found guilty for more things such as discriminating against New Jeans members and accusing Illit’s CEO, another group under HYBE, of plagiarism from New Jeans. After this situation it was decided that Min Hee Jin will no longer be working with New Jeans. 

 New Jeans had an unexpected live stream, the live consisted of the girls expressing the need to talk about the ongoing situation due to mistreatment after the group, ILLIT, were advised to ignore New Jeans during working hours. I had the chance to interview two of the devoted New jeans fans, here is what they had to say, “I feel like the girls were really brave about speaking out specially because their still really young” Another fan had this to say in response to the Illit allegations, “I feel like Illit had zero fault in anything, honestly I just blame their management for the way they are handling things” In response HYBE decided to let Min Hee Jin work with New Jeans as part of the producing team. Regarding Illit and the plagiarism allegations, fans have said both groups share some similarities in choreo and aesthetic but music wise, they are totally different. 

As this situation continues to get resolved New Jeans are speculated to go on a break, some fans are speculating that New Jeans might be moving to another company but hasn’t been confirmed.
