Fall is a great time of year. It’s a time for change, such as changes in temperatures, the color of the leaves, and fashion trends. Fall is an important time for the fashion industry; some might be familiar with the magazine Vogue and their most vital issue of the year, “The September Issue”.
Bust out your knits because it’s officially sweater weather, and if there was ever a time for knit super-fans, this is it. Oversized knit sweaters are perfect for fall-weather when it’s not too windy. Some popular colors include: blush pink, ox’s blood (a shade of dark red), and overall darker colors. Pastel colors are also quite popular this fall.
Cheetah print is also making its way back on the run way, oh wait, when did it ever leave? Test-drive the pattern against black pants or your favorite little black dress, but you may just come to regard the print as a neutral, adding it to stripes, polka dots, you name it — it works! Want to feel a little bit more adventurous? Then try pairing a printed poncho over shorts or a skirt and add thigh-high boots. Leather and denim jackets are also a way to add an edgy vibe to your look. As recently seen in Vogue, try adding some patches to your denim. They add a pop of color and somewhat rebel look.
Fall is also a perfect time for many kinds of boots. The temperature may be dropping but the latest shoe trends are heating up. For a more girly look you can try a pair of cheetah print flats, or brown leather oxfords. If you are going for more grunge look, pretty/tough ankle boots, anything with buckles and zippers, and mega chunky soles are the way to go.
Over-all men’s fashion includes muted color palettes and resurrected past trends, from puffy jackets to Fair Isle prints. Sweatpants even made their way onto the runway. Another popular outerwear trend for this season will be shearling-lined coats that look like the classic bombardier jackets pilots wore during WWII. Flannel is also great whether it’s on a shirt, coat, or as a scarf. Add character to boring knit sweaters with patterns. To make it look less like something your aunt bought you, add a blazer or collared shirt underneath.
Other trends include almost anything from the 80’s or 90’s. These clothes include acid wash jeans, cropped tees, high-wasted pants, and Doc Martens. Fashion is so versatile and ever changing now a days, so just be unique and be yourself.
