The weather during late September and October can be very unpredictable, but this time of the year is favored by many people. It’s the perfect time to cozy up in sweaters with pumpkin spice lattes and enjoy the trees around you as they change colors. The brisk mornings and hot afternoons that fall brings, mean that all of the fall and winter holidays are soon to come. The weather that is predicted for this fall is supposed to be on the warmer side, or near average temperatures. Usually fall is known as the “cooling off season,” to prepare for the cold winters in Illinois. Nighttime also arrives earlier as we transition into winter.
The cycle of seasons is caused by Earth’s tilt on its axis and the planets’ orbit around the sun. When the axis points toward the sun, that hemisphere experiences summer, and vice versa for the winter. Fall weather can also bring a sense of nostalgia. The features of fall, leaves crunching, the smell of bonfires, and tastes and smells of pumpkin-flavored things, can bring you back to childhood memories and simpler times.
Some think that the best part of fall is solely based on the weather because it is a great time to enjoy outdoor activities. The temperature is just right, not too hot, and not too cold. It’s the perfect balance. Many people also connect fall to FNL football which can bring a euphoric sense from when you were sitting in the stand with all of your friends enjoying everything around you.
