On Friday, October 25, 2024, the Joliet Central JROTC program held a party to celebrate the upcoming holiday of Halloween.
Halloween is a loved holiday by many, including those in the JROTC program, the program decided to create a tradition that consists of a Halloween party that only students under the program can attend. Students are allowed one non-Jrotc guest. Students had a participation fee of 10$ to cover the decorations and food. The party consists of fun activities like playing games, watching movies, and fun costumes students could participate in. This party also has a competitive suspense, the party has a voting system used to determine the best costume of the night.
Many attendees found this event to be fun and exciting. An attendee who preferred to stay anonymous said, “ I felt that the voting for the best costume was confusing, besides that the party was good” An attendee who was asked if it was fair for only those in JROTC to attend said, “Just ROTC. If it were the whole school it would take out the special part of the event.”
As a result of this event, many are expecting the next event to happen, called the military ball which is expected to happen in March. As the party was very successful the JROTC program is expected to have the same Halloween party next year.
