Now that it’s December, finals are imminent. Finals are one of the things that most students worry and stress about, immensely. There are different subjects that students worry about whether it’s English, Math, Science, etc. Data collected from students at Joliet Central shows us how much the students are ready for finals and what subject they’re most worried about. In this case, there were only 3 things students were worried about the most. The first one was not being able to remember class content while taking the final. The second was that many were concerned about failing the class/final and having to retake the class. The last thing that worries the students is that they won’t have enough time to finish the final. The two most exciting things for students were being done with finals and winter break. The most stressful subject, by far was Physics, whether it be regular, honors, or Advanced Placement. The second mentioned was Math. Whether students are ready or not there are a good amount of students that feel confident about finals but, there are also some who are not. With the statistics that were mentioned earlier, there were at least one-fourth of students who were not quite sure how they felt about finals. Finals can be very stressful depending on how well a student is prepared and the difficulty level of their classes. However, it can be especially difficult for freshmen and other students who have never experienced finals. With the pressure put on by teachers, horror stories from upperclassmen, and other rumors, finals can definitely be intimidating.
