On April 19, 2013, National Honor Society hosted is annual overnight fundraiser, Rock-A-Thon. At Rock-A-Thon, NHS members rock in rocking chairs all day after raising money for the organization from friends and family. The money raised goes to purchasing honor chords for graduating NHS members, as well as scholarships to a few lucky seniors. To get into NHS, one must have a minimum GPA of 3.5, be involved in at least three clubs, and have good standing with teachers and attendance. Those who apply and meet these requirements are inducted into the program, and can participate in the exciting fundraising event. This year’s Rock-A-Thon started at 7:30AM on the 19th, and required members to sit in their rocking chairs all morning. Later on, Ms. Erzinger, the director and coordinator of NHS, granted the participants free time, so they could play card games and video games, watch TV, eat pizza, and play in the gym. Highlights of the night include Ms. Erzinger jump roping and the juniors playing a huge game of Sardines. There were also many students rolling on scooters, playing volleyball and basketball in the middle of the night, and eating snacks and staying up all night, talking with a group of friends. Overall, the fundraiser was a huge success, and it provided many members with hilarious memories to last a lifetime.
