For those who attended the Joliet Central Open House, hopefully you had a great time like the majority of students, parents and teachers! When you arrived, you could see the culinary art students were selling cookies and other treats for support of their classes. The treats sold very well. Everybody enjoyed them! Parents and teachers were able to meet for the first time and discuss about the son or daughter. The parents seemed to like meeting all of the teachers and vice versa. They would talk about their student/child and how they are doing in class. If necessary, they also talked about how they could improve their behavior in and out of the classroom. The students were also able to show their family around the school. When the students showed their family around, the families seemed to be impressed. They were able to experience their child’s day in the matter of minutes. In other words, they went up and down the four flights of stairs Central has to offer. The students also would tell their families about their teachers, how crowded the hallways are (especially the T&I bridge), and what they were learning about in each of the different courses they were taking. While students and parents roamed the school, they were offered the opportunity to listen to the musicians the school has to offer. The band and orchestra played a couple of times throughout the night. Choir also made an appearance in the auditorium. For anybody who could not come to this open house, we hopefully you can come to the next year’s open house.
