Throughout periods two through five on October 30th, the Steel Tots came to trick or treat at some of the teachers’ classrooms in Joliet Central. The children were accompanied by the child development, occupational child care one and two students and their advisors. The preschoolers bounced down the halls with anticipation for more candy. They dressed up in all kinds of costumes for Halloween. To include a few, there was a lady bug, princess, Mario, minion, Wonder Woman, Captain America and plenty of power rangers to save us.
Smiles lit up on the children’s faces every time they entered a room and were gifted with more treats. With every high school student or faculty member that past them were more smiles and compliments on how cute or heroic they were. They received Snickers, Milky Ways, lollipops and other variety of sweets. Some teachers also passed out little trinkets, such as bookmarks or plastic spider rings. Either way, the children were delighted to be a part of the adventure.
Their bags were filled to capacity and pure happiness were plastered on their faces even when they started to get sleepy eyed. One of the groups of children gathered around for a picture before they returned to their own classroom and rested before going home. The spirit of Halloween is still alive with the growing generation. Every little step they took and laugh they shared was beautiful joy being put into this school. These are our future Steelmen and show so much hope for the future.
