The importance of the PSAT
May 14, 2023
Did you do good on your PSATs? Many students underestimate the significance of the PSATs, assuming it’s just a practice test that won’t affect their future. Although it is a practice test, it is important to try your best since some intelligent students may end up in a class that gives our goldfish crackers to those who perform long division correctly. Teachers assess PSAT scores to determine which classes you’ll be placed in, so it’s crucial to put in effort. For instance, if you want to join an AP class, but didn’t try hard enough in the PSAT, schools may not consider you worthy enough to be in that class. The PSATs have a significant impact, so it’s essential not to take this test lightly.
People who tried and did their best in the PSATs will be put where they belong, not in an advanced class, but a class suited to their academic needs. The PSAT are what the school sees you as, if you want the school to see you as an intuitive individual, they will see your PSAT score. If you want to get into easier classes and think that would be a better option for your well-being, the school will look at the PSAT score and determine that for you. This shows that even though the PSAT is just a practice test and not the SAT, it still makes an impact and a significant difference whether you tried your hardest or not.
