The homecoming parade took place on Saturday, October 20th, the morning of the homecoming dance at ten in the morning at Joliet Central High-school. The parade created by the student council started as a way to get students and alumni excited about homecoming and other events pertaining to the school. The parade started on Herkimer Street, moved north towards East Jackson Street, then towards Ottawa Street. The homecoming parade has been happening for a while now, and it’s always had a very positive impact on the students and alumni as it allows it to be a way of getting intrigued for homecoming. A lot of the sports and clubs were in the parade such as the freshmen girls volleyball, girls flag football, and the cheerleaders as they handed out candy to those who attended the parade. They were in trucks and some were covered in balloons as they made their way through the parade. A member of the freshman volleyball team says, “the parade was really fun to be a part of and I liked how we got the opportunity to be in it.” Additionally, another Joliet Central student stated, “the parade was really fun and it makes me excited for the homecoming dance tonight.” Many who attended the homecoming parade say it was “enjoyable and fun,” as it had a good and positive impact. The parade will continue to keep being a tradition at Joliet Central High-school based on the positive impacts and feedback from people who attended. Overall, Many say it was a good and positive experience that will continue to be a homecoming tradition at Joliet Central High-school.
