TRIO is a program that can help you with academic support, college advising, and more!
Worrying about future financial aid? Have no idea where you’re going to go after high school or how to start this upcoming chapter of adulthood in life? TRIO is the mentorship program for you! TRIO is run by Caprisha Neal, who is the manager of the program. The organization is open to all students and ready to support you! The club hosts events for students of Joliet Central during lunch, advisory, and after school to help you! You can rely on TRIO to answer your questions and give you any advice you may need. How can you participate? Events happen every Tuesday and Thursday and the program hosts big events once every month. Caprisha Neal, along with the rest of the team, can be found in the lower library, lunch room, or their office in room 367. Why is Joliet Central working with TRIO? The program has numerous resources and helps to offer all grades! Pre-college and college programs, financial aid, workshops, college prep, and career exposure.
The program helps over 19,000 students in Illinois, a nationwide program that has been around for 60 years, spending 50 of those years working in Illinois. If you’re wondering what these events look like, you can expect a short presentation combined with an activity at the end such as a small game, a kahoot, etc. The team has lifted students up from their academic trenches; students who were convinced they wouldn’t be able to walk the stage graduated with TRIO’s support. It is highly recommended even just attending one of TRO’s events! You can keep track by joining their Google Classroom or following their Instagram, @jjc_trio_ets, and again, TRIO welcomes everyone.
