Over the years many schools throughout the United States, including the Joliet Township High Schools, have adopted the Boys Volleyball program, giving high school males a chance to compete in their own category without having to make the women’s team coed. The Joliet Central Varsity boys’ volleyball team continue to keep the program alive as they continue working hard this season to uphold the program and reach their goals of improving the team and its record. So far this season the boys have managed a 2-10 record all the while doing their best to beat rival teams Lemont and Oswego East, also putting up a good fight against other teams throughout Illinois. Head Coach Zakary Krumlinde gives this comment as to the teams hopes for the rest of the season, “We are a young and very inexperienced team, so our goal is to improve at every game, practice and by the end of year we hope to be competing with the top teams in the area.” The whole team has played a huge role in the success they’ve had so far this season, but player Kyle Gerstenkorn has been named the team’s MVP for his determination to play well and stay on the court at all times. Also Junior Trent Robinson who was a Middle Hitter last season is now an outside hitter earning him more responsibility and the title of Most Improved Player. Although the boys work hard at practices and games, they never forget to have fun and enjoy themselves while they explore their passions and strive for greatness. With hard work and dedication the boys hope to finish the year strong as they continue gaining new fun, talented, and dedicated players who will help them improve the prospects of the future of the program.
