Entering the 2022 season, the Chicago Bears had a rough start. They finished the season with a 3-14 record, landing the #1 number pick in the NFL draft. With their draft capital, trades, and additions in free agency, the Bears added a much needed talent boost to the roster, making fans excited for the 2023 season.
While many teams with the first overall pick draft a quarterback, the Bears did not go in that direction. Instead, General Manager Ryan Poles committed to third year quarterback, Justin Fields, by trading away the first pick for a grand package that included star wide receiver DJ Moore, a swap of 2023 first round picks, a 2024 first round pick, and more draft capital. In just his second season in the NFL, Fields broke the single season quarterback rushing record, rushing for 1,143 yards. So far through his career, Fields ranks at the bottom of most passing categories. Most experts bring up Fields’ underwhelming completion percentage and the amount of sacks he has taken when criticizing his play. While it is imperative Fields improves his passing marks this season and was charted as one of the most accurate passers at Ohio State while he was in college. Bears fans have reason to be excited!
