Support the 24-25 JCHS Girls’ VB team!
On August 12-14, 2024, Joliet Central female students participated in volleyball tryouts to form the ‘24-‘25 Girls’ Volleyball team. After careful consideration, this year’s team was devised.
Hosted in the main gym at Joliet Central, back in early August, students engaged in the enthralling practices of volleyball tryouts to form this year’s team. Coach O’Connell and Coach Ratajczak made their decision after reviewing the results of many devoted athletes. Students showed off their skills in volleyball through serving, setting, and more. Building up to this event, there was a sports camp over the summer as well, and was open to any students between 6th and 12th grade. Many of the people at volleyball tryouts were also at the summer camp. It was seen as a major help to those who wanted to join the team. From 8-10 am on the assigned days, coaches observed how well those at tryouts performed at the sport. “You have to put in a lot of effort,” stated Mickalaynuh Wollenzien, a member of the Girls’ volleyball team. She also commented, “It’s very rewarding because you get to play the sport you love if you are very passionate about it and enjoy it”. The Girls’ Volleyball team has participated in a few games so far, and they will continue to, impacting how the season will go as a whole. Many viewers and students who viewed one or more of the volleyball games said the atmosphere was welcoming. This year’s team has had a very positive impact on the school itself so far. The Pink Heals game is occurring on Thursday, October 17th. It will be the only Joliet Central vs. Joliet West Volleyball tournament all season, and it will be free for student entry as well. The Girls’ Volleyball team is full of dedicated, allocated student-athletes. The first game of the season was in August, and since then, the team has been doing well, and they are determined to win their upcoming games.
