The Joliet Varsity Boys Soccer team had a game against Yorkville on September 23, 2024. This game was another home game for the Steelmen as it was held at Joliet Central’s stadium. There was a decent amount of people on both sides of the game and all cheering for different team members and different teams. The first goal that was scored was from the opposing team which led the game to be 0-1 and Central losing, but not for long. After, a Steelman scored in, making it a tie. With all the excitement of the parents and the people cheering them from the bleachers, it gave chills other than the fact that it was also cold that day. The game continued with people cheering the players playing and finishing the first half of the game being 1-1. After they started the second half of the game, it wasn’t long until Yorkville scored another goal. The Steelmen quickly realized that they didn’t have much time for them to score and be a tie now that they were losing by a point. With only 10 minutes remaining of the game, the intensity increased in everyone and after all those almost goals with both teams. The time got shorter and shorter and the intensity of the game grew, hoping Central could make a goal to end up a tie at least. At the last minute of the game they got the ball out and had a throw-in. It took about 20 seconds for the person at the outside of the field to throw the ball back in, with the shouting of parents because of time. With only 10 seconds of the game left, Central had the soccer ball and had a goal kick but unfortunately, the ball was kicked higher up from the goal. Time was up and the score stayed as 2-1 with Joliet Steelmen losing.
