The game that determines if Joliet Central’s Varsity Boys Soccer team continues playing, Joliet Central vs Homewood-Flossmoor. Despite good defense and active, ready to score midfielders from Central, it was a tough loss for the team on October 19. The game was very intense with the score being 1-0 in the first half and the second half being 2-1. Number 23 scored during the first half with a very lucky goal, Number 16 also scored a goal, leading the game 2-0 with a very clean and amazing goal from Homewood-Flossmoor. Braulio, Number 17 also scored a goal but the referee called it an offside so the goal was not counted. The game took place at Joliet Central and started at 12:00pm. A spectator says she “thought Joliet Central was going to win because they had an extra win.” She also said, “They did play good but you can tell they were having trouble communicating and they were not focused enough’.
Before the game, they had a lot of practice and had a lot of games to lead up to the tournament. It was a very good game that made a lot of the supporters happy and others very upset. The goals Homewood-Flossmoor had scored made the crowd upset because Joliet Central lost, but for the opposing fans, they were really excited and happy because Homewood-Flossmoor won.
Due to Joliet Central losing they did not go to the Playoffs. It affected some players because it will be their last game for Central because seniors will be graduating. However, their time on the team will have a lasting impact, remembering their time on Central’s Varsity soccer team. Although Joliet Central did lose they did put in a lot of effort and tried very hard. Both teams put a lot of effort into winning this game with the score being 2-1, despite missed shots or failed plays.
