The class of 2028 has now entered a journey that can impact their future highly educationally and socially! The class of 2028’s journey of education started on August 19, 2024, when they became freshmen at Joliet Central High School after being promoted from junior high school. Starting this year, the class of 2028 will be on a fresh, new path into high school. It has taken a bit for the class of 2028 to settle into a new building, routines, and mandatories. Jimena Urbano, a student of the 2028 graduating class, shared her thoughts on the year so far, “My experience as a freshman so far has been pretty calming. There’s more freedom here and teachers are very understanding. Sometimes my homework can be overwhelming but other than that everything has been calm and normal for me”. High school can be difficult but it will be a big part of the class of 2028’s journey, now that they have entered high school, they can start focusing on their future and new opportunities.
Participating in any activities is recommended to create more relationships with peers so they can create many memories of the high school experience that can be looked back on in the future. May their decisions help them grow as a person. In order to graduate high school all students must meet the requirements of having 4 English credits, 3 Math credits, 2 Science credits, 2.5 Social Science credits, 0.5 Consumer Education credit, 3.5 P.E or alternative class credits, 0.5 Health credits, 1 Art/Career & Tech Ed/Language/Music credit making it 22 credits needed in total. In addition to class credits, students will need 40 hours of community service, take the ACT in the second semester of junior year, pass the US Constitution test in their senior year, and complete the FAFSA in the first semester of senior year.
